Why True North Psychiatric Solutions?

"True North" symbolizes authenticity, inner direction, and personal alignment. It represents a person’s unwavering sense of self - even amidst confusion, trauma, or emotional hardship. Just as a compass always points north, we believe in helping individuals reconnect with their internal compass to navigate life’s challenges.

"Psychiatric Solutions" reflects our commitment to practical, compassionate, and results-oriented care. We go beyond diagnosis to provide evidence-based treatments tailored to each individual’s unique needs, offering real solutions to real mental health concerns.

The name, True North Psychiatric Solutions, embodies the core values of our practice. Together, the words create a clear purpose: to guide individuals back to themselves with expert psychiatric care that restores clarity, balance, and direction.

I've always seen the brain as a puzzle. Every person who walks through my door has pieces that fit together in a way no one else's do, and my job is to take the time to find them.

That's why I started True North. I wanted to build a practice around how much time my clients actually need, not around what generates the most revenue. Because the truth is, you can't tell whether a medication is working in under thirty minutes and psychiatry isn't just about medicine anyway. It's about sleep, food, emotions, relationships, stress, the whole shape of a person's life. All of it matters, and all of it takes time to understand.

My path into psychiatry ran through emergency rooms and school settings before I became a psych NP, and across every one of those environments I kept running into the same wall: people being told "your labs are perfect" while still feeling that something is off or not right. Or worse — being told they were just lazy, that they should "push through." Neither one is true, and neither one helps.

It isn't your fault. It's your chemistry. And chemistry can be worked with.

What functional psychiatry taught me is that "normal labs" isn't the end of the conversation, it's the beginning. There's so much more in bloodwork than whether a value falls inside a reference range. Trends matter. Discrepancies matter. The relationships between markers matter. I use genetic testing, comprehensive labs, and a careful look at the whole picture -mind, body, and environment - to build a plan that's actually yours. There's a time and place for prescription medication, and a time and place for supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle change. Often it's both. I'll help you figure out which lever to pull, and when.

What I've learned doing this work is that every variant, every quirk of brain chemistry - comes with remarkable traits underneath. People aren't broken. They're under-supported. Once the right scaffolding is in place, the things that make someone uniquely them get to shine through. I genuinely believe every person is built to be an impactful, unique part of their community. My job is to help clear the path.

I take this work seriously, but I also like to laugh with my clients. Life is heavy enough, there's room for lightness too, and I tend to look for the bright points. I'll be straightforward with you, never judgmental, and we'll make decisions together at a pace that feels right.

I'm also a perpetual student. Functional psychiatry, pharmacogenomics, methylation, brain-body medicine, the science keeps evolving, and I keep studying so the care you get reflects what we actually know now, not what was true ten years ago.
